2002-04-28 (Sunday) - 3:29 p.m. If you go to the Peter Lisagor Awards finalists, the annual awards of the Headline Club, for this year and scroll down to the Reporting category for "Newsletter, trade or special interest publication," you will see that I was a recipient of a journalism award. The presentation of these awards was Friday and I have to say that I was very delighted to be a winner. Congrads to Alden and Ellyn as well. The story I contributed to can be found here while the sidebar that Ellyn and I did is here. My involvement in this story began just a little under a year ago and I learned a lot in the process, even thought I didn't always enjoy it. That said, I do feel somewhat that only Alden deserves the award. (Not that I'm giving it back or anything.) Shortly after the award had been announced Alysia Tate, Editor and Publisher of the Chicago Reporter, told me, "You're now an award winning journalist." I think it is pretty cool. Another reporter, Leah Samuel walked into the office a few minutes ago as I was reading documents and asked, "Working on that next Lisagor, are you?" "Well I hadn't thought of it that way," I replied.
