Dear President Bush, I happened to recently read the 1973 War Powers Act (http://www.cs.indiana.edu/statecraft/warpow.html) and wanted to make sure that you are aware of what it requires of you. You must, according to SEC. 2. (a), "apply to the introduction of United States Armed Forces into hostilities, or into situations where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicate by the circumstances, and to the continued use of such forces in hostilities or in such situations." And according to SEC. 5. (b) of this act, within no later than 60 days of this application, "the President shall terminate any use of United States Armed Forces with respect to which such report was submitted (or required to be submitted), unless the Congress (1) has declared war or has enacted a specific authorization for such use of United States Armed Forces, (2) has extended by law such sixty-day period, or (3) is physically unable to meet as a result of an armed attack upon the United States." Since none of these clauses seem to have been met and today -December 6- is day 60 of United States military involvement in Afghanistan, I would assume that you will be removing the troops by the end of today. Given the amount of new laws you have you advocated for and signed into law to help fight terrorism, I would hope that you would set a good example and follow this very important act. Thank you for your time,
